Some journeys only happen once. Paso Libre takes small groups into the world's most extraordinary landscapes — on horseback, guided by people who have ridden this land their entire lives.
See Upcoming TripsWho We Are
Paso Libre was born from a love for horses, wild places, and a different way of seeing the world.
We believe some places are meant to be explored slowly. On horseback, there are no windows between you and the landscape. You feel the weather change, cross rivers instead of driving around them, stop when something is worth stopping for, and reach places few travellers ever get to see.
Our small-group expeditions take us from the mountains of Patagonia and working gaucho ranches of Uruguay to the snow-covered forests of Finnish Lapland.
But Paso Libre is about more than where we ride.
It's about long days in the saddle and evenings around the fire. Learning from the horsemen who know these landscapes by heart. Getting to know your horse. Sharing a table with people who were strangers a few days ago. And experiencing a place in a way that simply isn't possible when you're rushing through it.
That's why we don't really think of these as riding holidays. They're expeditions built around horses, nature, local life, and the kind of moments you can't plan into an itinerary.
We keep our groups small and work alongside local horsemen and guides who have spent their lives on the land we ride through. No two days are exactly the same, and that's part of it.
Come ride with us. See where the trail takes you.
From Trevelin, Patagonia, Franco pretty much grew up on the back of a horse. Raised on a cattle ranch, he has spent his life around horses, from training them and guiding expeditions to a lifetime riding the mountains he was born in.
Franco is the hands-on force behind every Paso Libre expedition. He builds the routes, runs the on-the-ground logistics, pairs every rider with the right horse, and makes sure everyone feels safe and confident in the saddle. On the trail, he reads the land, the weather and the horses. He chooses the crossings, the camps and the pace of each day.
Susanne has always had a habit of finding herself in faraway places. After years of travelling and filming some of the world's most remote corners, she eventually decided that finding incredible adventures wasn't enough. She wanted to create them too.
Susanne shapes Paso Libre from the first idea to the final ride. She develops new expeditions, builds the brand and stories around them, leads the marketing, content and guest experience, and turns an idea for a journey into something people can actually book and experience.
The Local Team
Each trip is supported by local guides and ranch families who have worked this land for generations — Our Team in Patagonia, the ranch family of La Pilona in Uruguay, and the Arctic guides of Finnish Lapland. These are not hired hands. They are the reason the trips are real.
